Our story

It started with Grizz

We are John ( aka “Grizz”) and Carrie (who typically goes by Mom or Mimi but is otherwise without a nickname). People have been telling us for years that we should start a restaurant or a food truck, so after 35 years of marriage, we are making that dream come true.

It is rare to drive by our home and not smell the tempting aroma from the smoker, or for us to not be buzzing around in the kitchen. To be honest, John’s love of cooking and smoking meats has evolved over the years from a mere hobby to a total obsession. But the result…he has not only created, but perfected his meat preparation and techniques for melt-in-your-mouth brisket, burnt ends, pork, turkey, you name it. He has got it down. While John is on the grill year-round, I craft my own homemade comfort food recipes to compliment his BBQ, like smoked gouda mac n cheese, spicy chili or my secret sweet cornbread with honey butter.

As we raised our daughters and our family got bigger, we have always enjoyed cooking and serving at all our gatherings. Now we hope to share the love and joy we put into every bite by welcoming you and your families to sit down and savor–not only the food but your time together!

Grizz’s Smokin’ BBQ values family above all else. Our own family created, family cooked (and family tested) recipes are what we want to share with your family.

Good things take time

As 35 years of marriage have shown us, many good things get even better with time. We take the time to slow cook our meats and create our comfort dishes from scratch, every time.
